Established in 1970, North Seattle College provides learning opportunities for a diverse group of more than 14,000 students each year. North is the starting point for many students who transfer to top universities across the country. Strong academic preparation and advising services, small classes, an innovative integrated studies program, broad e-learning options, and a variety of partnerships with four-year schools contribute to student success.
The college also offers three Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in Application Development, Early Childhood Education and in International Business and all-in-the-evening Associate of Arts and Associate in Business degree programs. North also provides outstanding career training in more than 60 certificate programs, including in emerging fields such as nanotechnology, sustainable and conventional energy, and control technology. In addition, the college also helps students earn their GED, learn English, enhance their basic skills and/or pursue a new skill or personal interest. North's faculty members are well-qualified to share their knowledge. Ninety percent of full-time faculty hold a master's degree or higher.
North Seattle College offers a vibrant and culturally rich campus experience. With more than 43 countries represented by student population and 30-plus clubs and organizations for students to participate in, North offers something for everyone. As a student, one can participate in Student Leadership and help plan a variety of arts, lecture and community events that occur on campus every quarter. Students can also get involved in student government through the Student Administrative Council, which offers paid leadership positions.
North is located in the Northgate area of Seattle and is conveniently located near the two major north-south highways, Interstate 5 and Highway 99, just a short drive to downtown and the University of Washington. Largely residential, the campus neighbourhood is near a large shopping district and the city's popular Greenlake Park. North Seattle College is located on scenic and environmentally sensitive wetlands that employees, students, and community take pride in nourishing and protecting. Students can tour the wetlands or enjoy a peaceful walk through campus under the lush trees and, shrubs and flowers.
