This advanced degree program offers students a chance to learn the art of conducting from top faculty while also diving deep into the history and technical structure of a wide variety of musical genres. Students who earn a Master of Music in Conducting will choose from one of three interest areas: choral, orchestral or wind. Students will become comfortable with basic conducting gestures and learn to rehearse an ensemble effectively, identifying faults in pitch, rhythm, intonation, precision and balance. Students will also dive into the historical and analytical components of music in the oral and written formats. A degree in musical conducting will give you a strong background in many musical genres, preparing you for a variety of potential musical careers both on and off the stage.
