To qualify for admission to the PhD in Social Work, you must:
Have a Master of Social Work degree, or equivalent, from an accredited degree-granting university, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B)
Demonstrate minimum research competency in both qualitative and quantitative methods equivalent to the level required for the Master of Social Work degree from the University of Manitoba, with a minimum grade of 3.0 (B) within the last 10 years
IELTS - 6.5 overall, TOEFL IBT - Overall score of 86, 20 in Reading, 20 in Writing, 20 in Listening, 20 in Speaking.

The University of Manitoba Ph.D. is an advanced degree, focusing on developing skills for research and teaching. A full range of opportunities for study is available, and we particularly encourage research concerning Aboriginal people and women.The Graduate Program Committee of the Faculty of Social Work, and its sub-committee, the Ph.D. Committee, administers the Ph.D. program, and ensures its objectives are met within the guidelines of the Faculty of Graduate Studies of the University of Manitoba. The Ph.D. option consists of coursework and a substantial research component. Expected Duration - 4 years.
