The Master of Arts in Reading program provides students with a strong theoretical foundation in the field of reading and literacy, as well as skills needed to address the needs of K-12 learners, particularly those who require specialized literacy intervention. Successful completion of The Master of Arts in Reading and additional state testing requirements leads to the Reading Specialist (BR), a K-12 endorsement from the State of Michigan. The Master of Arts in Reading and the State of Michigan endorsement as a K-12 Reading Specialist can lead to a position as a building or district literacy curriculum/reading specialist, literacy coach, or teacher for struggling readers.
