Our program allows graduate students to be involved in high level research and development, and the design of a wide range of mechanical systems. UNB's mechanical engineering program offers students exciting and diverse program options including: biomedical engineering, instrumentation and control, manufacturing engineering, materials characterization and processing, and mechatronics.The PhD is primarily a research degree and the major emphasis is on the thesis, which must make a contribution to knowledge in the candidate's field of study.The requirements for entrance into the PhD program are a Master's degree from a recognized university, or the equivalent. Master's students performing at an excellent level, on application, may be permitted to transfer you registration to the PhD program without finishing your current program. The normal course load for the PhD degree is four courses (a minimum 12 credit hours following a Master's degree) along with your thesis research.
