South Seattle College was established in 1969. It is a state funded, public higher educational institution offering a wide range of Transfer Degree programs, Intensive English Programs, a 4-year Bachelor of Applied Science and various Professional and Technical Programs. As an open-access learning institution, Seattle Colleges prepares each student for success in life and work, fostering a diverse, engaged, and dynamic community. Thousands of international students from many countries started their educational career here and transferred to universities all across the United States.

South Seattle College offers comprehensive university level education for the international students. There are over 40 University Transfer programs to choose from and various nationally recognized Professional & Technical programs that will prepare students for job market upon completion. The Intensive English Program prepares students for academic classes and assists them with adjusting to American educational environment and culture and allows them to make life - long friendships with students from many parts of the world. Additionally, it offers programs to highly motivated high school students to study and receive a two-year college degree and high school diploma at the same time in two years.

South Seattle College is located on an 87-acre hilltop campus in West Seattle, just minutes from Alki Beach and downtown Seattle. It offers a panoramic view of the city skyline, Puget Sound waterfront and the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges.
