Stenberg College was originally established in 1990 by Mary Jane Stenberg. In 2003, The Education Company Inc. (TEC) acquired Stenberg College. TEC was established by an experienced group of educators who founded and operated The Center for Digital Imaging and Sound (CDIS) from 1979 to 2003. In addition to Stenberg College, TEC manages a number of other educational institutions across Canada including the Centre for Arts and Technology. Stenberg College provides career-oriented programs for students and offering them the opportunity to receive quality, industry-accredited education to help launch their career in Canada. All career-oriented programs include hands-on practicums, allowing students to apply the knowledge and skills they learned in class to a career setting. Stenberg College offers graduates pathway options for certain programs to public post-secondary institutions with British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) or Yorkville University. Students can participate in student council, volunteering opportunities, multicultural celebrations and campus events that can include fun holiday celebrations with food and decorations. The additional support services offered to international students include one on one time with staff members for academic and career guidance, academic workshops and study skills training, weekly ESL courses and post-graduation support for alumni. Stenberg College has also received the BC government’s Education Quality Assurance (EQA) designation which is BC’s seal of quality post-secondary education for both public and private institutions.
