Dr. Rafael Locke established the 'Ikon Institute of Healing Arts' in 1988 to train practitioners in transpersonal psychotherapy within a therapeutic framework. The inspiration for the original vocational courses stemmed from Dr. Locke’s extensive experience in anthropology, psychoanalysis, humanistic and transpersonal psychotherapy, holistic and nutritional medicine, behavioral medicine, parapsychology, and neuroscience.In 2008, the institute became the Ikon Institute of South Australia, and in 2010, it transitioned to Proteus Technologies Pty Ltd, trading as the Ikon Institute of Australia.In 2020, Ikon expanded its offerings beyond counselling, psychotherapy, and creative therapies with the launch of its Diploma and Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. Today, the institute focuses on cultivating the next generation of life-changers across various areas of study.Ikon places a strong emphasis on authentically connecting with and developing the potential of individuals.
