The growing availability of completely sequenced genomes, computational analysis and molecular analytic tools is allowing unprecedented discoveries in areas as diverse as human medicine, agriculture, conservation biology and biotechnology. The analysis of vast collections of genomic data has spawned the new discipline of bioinformatics that has required the development of new analytical and programming tools. Genetics is an appropriate major to be taken on its own or in combination with any other biological major or Computer Science.
