Behind all medical data is a human. You’ll keep this in mind as you master core competencies that prepare you for professional roles in translational research and development, institutional management, public policy, information systems, hospitals and private industry. Coursework is designed to develop your skills in statistical analysis and biomedical informatics while helping you become a competent researcher, effective communicator, ethical and responsible actor, and positive presence in your community. This program allows you to direct your course of study (individualized informatics) or choose from four distinct emphasis areas tailored to your academic and career goals. Students pursuing independent research careers should enroll in the thesiscapstone track, whereas students pursuing industry careers may opt for the non-thesis track.<br>The Computational Emphasis specializes inthe development and use of the next generation of bioinformatics tools and software.<br>Program Objectives<br>Graduates will be effective members of multi-disciplinary teams in industry or academia.<br>Some of the graduates will engage in advanced studies in informatics.<br>Learning Outcomes:<br>Graduates of the Computational Emphasis will have the skills to use and develop bioinformatic tools and resources.
