This advanced degree program offers students a chance to learn the art of conducting from top faculty, while also diving deep into the history and technical structure of a wide variety of musical genres. Students in this doctoral program will choose from one of three interest areas: choral, orchestral or wind. Students will become fluent in conducting, demonstrate advanced levels of musicality and expression, and gain a superior understanding of the historical and analytical components of music.<br>Students graduating from this program will:<br><br>Students will demonstrate an advanced level of musicality and artistic expression<br>Students will demonstrate a fluency of conducting technique.<br>Students will rehearse an ensemble at a high level of effectiveness and artistry.<br>Students will demonstrate an advanced familiarity with the stylistic characteristics and repertory of each major musical style period.<br>Students will demonstrate superior understanding of the historical and analytical components of music and will be able to communicate this understanding effectively in both written and oral formats.
