This program prepares you for professional careers in music and orchestra through a combination of studio classes, seminars, mock auditions and performances designed to develop your abilities as a soloist and orchestra musician. Our orchestras perform in the opera pit, regularly play chamber music, and are often invited to perform at leading festivals and conferences around the country. As student in this program, you will develop competence in the fundamental performance areas of technique, tone, expression, rhythm and intonation. You will also develop and present two high-level public solo recitals to showcase your capabilities as an artist. Coursework, exercises and performance experiences are designed to prepare you for professional-level performance. The demand for musicians is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. As a graduate of this program, you can look forward to rewarding career options as a music teacher, college music professor, orchestra musician, music director or independent music instructor.
