Whether you're passionate about Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences and want to further your learning in this area, or you're an aspiring athlete, you can achieve your academic and sporting ambitions by studying your first year of Sports Science undergraduate degree at LBIC. You will be given the opportunity to develop your practical skills and understand the relationships between research, theory and practise. This will hugely help you to communicate effectively when progressing to Brunel to complete your degree in the Sports Science field, as well as building more confidence to become an autonomous and independent learner who can engage in individual and collaborative research. Brunel has a long and distinguished history in sport and whether you play at the highest competitive level or enjoy it for fitness and fun, there is a huge choice available. Our sports facilities are used by some of the world's top athletes, including Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.<br><br>This is an intensive programme with a minimum 16 hours per week and a corresponding number of ongoing assessment tasks designed to provide a scaffolded structure for students at this entry level to Higher Education. Students learn through a combination of formal, interactive lectures in relevant content areas, interactive seminars, practical workshop sessions and IT-enabled self-study opportunities: practical application of theoretical knowledge allows students to develop further skills and understanding of relevant topics and concepts. The focus on academic literacy development in all parts of the course ensures that students develop strong linguistic competence and advanced numeracy skills as well as a mastery of their discipline at an appropriate level. Through the course, students will be encouraged to engage appropriately with peers and tutors as members of an academic community. This will involve the development of critical self-awareness and personal literacy as students become more attuned to their identity as global citizens. The programme provides a diverse learning environments for students, recognising that they will learn in different ways and through different mediums.<br><br>This pathway is broad-based and will prepare you for a career in a diverse range of fields. You may wish to continue your education further by studying a postgraduate course. You could pursue a career in coaching, consultancy, fitness testing and training, sport development or sport management. Examples of graduate schemes include the Greenwich Leisure Limited Trainee Manager Graduate Scheme or the Police Now National Graduate Leadership Programme. You have the opportunity to switch to a specialist area of study in your second year in your degree, with pathways available in coaching, human performance or sport development.<br><br>This pathway leads to the following Brunel University London degrees: Physical Education, Coaching and Sport Development BSc, Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences BSc and Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences with Business Studies BSc (Hons).
