Gain in-depth knowledge of accounting, financial management, banking and business analytics, along with an understanding of how people make decisions and organise societies, and how to predict human behaviour. By combining two areas of study in this dual degree program, you'll gain the essential skills and understanding of commerce, along with the broad knowledge and human insights found in the field in economics. During your commerce studies you'll complete a range of compulsory courses that cover concepts relevant across the financial services sector, including topics such as accounting, business information systems, business analytics and finance. You'll gain a combination of core and specialist knowledge, and the skills to apply what you've learned wherever your career takes you. With the economics program you'll challenge your personal thinking and current ideas of people and the world, learning how economics is central to decision-making in business, markets, trade, government, health and more. You'll undertake a variety of courses that will build your knowledge about key economic principles, theories and tools, and study topics including microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics.<br><br>This major will equip students to work as consultants and leaders for the private sector. Students will acquire the ability to apply advanced and cutting edge economic insights to analyse problems and create solutions. They will learn how to interpret, advise and lead in situations involving strategic competition between individuals, between teams, between businesses and between nations. They will understand new ways of collecting and interpreting data. The major will also provide students with an opportunity to learn behavioural economics insights regarding how people behave in the real world, and why this matters. Students will gain a deep and cutting edge knowledge of strategy and behaviour from an economic perspective. This will position them exceptionally well to play a leading part in the future direction of business, government and society.
