The department offers courses leading to the degrees of bachelor of arts with a major in mathematics. The bachelor's degrees have specializations in applied mathematics, discrete mathematics/operations research, statistics, or general mathematics study. The Bachelor of arts degree provides a traditional liberal arts experience through a balanced course of study in the arts, humanities, foreign language, social and natural sciences. Students planning to major in mathematics are encouraged to consult an advisor from the Mathematics and Statistics Department to design a program of study in mathematics or statistics.<br>Students will be able to:<br>demonstrate problem solving and modeling, which includes appreciating the connections between applications and theory.
