This is a rigorous program in Mathematics consisting of extensive course work and original research in one of the department's many fields of expertise leading to a dissertation. The program is typically completed in five or six years. Applicants to the program should have a strong undergraduate background in Mathematics. The graduate faculty of Rutgers-New Brunswick offers a variety of degree programs for students interested in the Mathematical Sciences. Some of these are offered by the Mathematics faculty, while others are operated by other units of the university.
