To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences. A weighted GPA takes into account the extra difficulty of honors, AP or IB classes.
You must submit your final, official high school transcripts to support your application for admission.
SAT/ACT scores: We do not require SAT or ACT scores for admission or scholarship consideration
IELTS (must be academic version) with a score of 6.0 plus
TOEFL score 61 plus

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers two degree programsa bachelor of arts and a bachelor of scienceas well as numerous specializations to fit your interests. They are all designed to increase your analytical and logical thinking, improve your problem-solving skills, preparing you for a career in a wide variety of fields.<br><br>Learning outcomes<br>The bachelor of arts degree provides a traditional liberal arts experience through a balanced course of study in the arts, humanities, foreign language, social and natural sciences. The bachelor of science degree is an expanded major, which provides a more intense experience in mathematics, statistics, computing and science.<br>Regardless of which option you chose, math and stats majors take courses that cover calculus, linear algebra, statistics and analysis, among other topics. Math majors graduate with the ability to use mathematical concepts and models to solve problems. <br>In addition to a general emphasis, students can specialize in applied mathematics, discrete mathematics/operations research or statistics.
