Come join an elite and close-knit community of students and faculty passionate about all things mathematical. As a math major at Stevens, you will: Have the freedom to concentrate your studies in one of several directions, including abstract mathematics, cryptography, statistics, and actuarial science. Work one-on-one with a faculty member in the Department of Mathematical Sciences to conduct mathematical research on a topic that interests you. Take courses that prepare you for graduate school, should you choose to pursue it, or for a career in cryptography, data science, finance, actuarial science, and more. Participate in Math Major Meetups hosted by the department each semester. These are informal gatherings where math majors and math faculty get together to eat pizza, chat, and solve math puzzles. Be given priority to secure a (paid) job working for the department's outreach programs, including the Stevens Math Circle Initiative and the annual Stevens Math Olympiad. Have the opportunity to join the Stevens Math Club and prepare for the famous Putnam Competition under the guidance of a faculty member.
