Gain the knowledge and skills needed to analyze and write about political systems, political ideas, and complex issues in the modern world. The program in Political Science develops students' knowledge of Canadian government, international relations, and political systems and theories, and their understanding of complex political issues. Topics include the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and its impacts on society, Indigenous rights, decolonization and globalization, provincial governments and the politics of natural resource development, FrancoOntarian minority politics, immigration policies and the politics of integration, terrorism, ethnic conflict and civil war, international security and conflict resolution, and the influence of popular culture on politics.<br><br>Career outcomes: For either the public or private sphere – policy analysis and/or advisor, professional lobbyist, political consultant, communications, management, federal, provincial and municipal administrations, entrepreneurship, think tanks, international organizations, Law School, graduate studies in political science, international relations, and journalism.
