课程简介
Thank you for visiting the MSU Mass Communication Department. With about 140 mass communication majors, the department is big enough to offer a wide range of opportunities yet small enough to offer a personal connection. Students will find professors with open doors who are willing to help them navigate the curriculum, scholarships, careers and most anything else that comes up. Our students win awards in state, regional and national competitions on an annual basis, most recently the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, the Broadcast Education Association and Collegiate Broadcasting Inc. Our graduates have gone on to careers not only in media-related fields such as television, journalism, advertising and public relations but also in management, event-planning, teaching, law and marketing. Alumni have won Pulitzer Prizes and gone on to some of the best graduate schools in the country.

All mass communication students complete a 39-credit major that includes a broad range of courses across the discipline, including advertising, journalism, broadcasting, interpersonal communication and our capstone course, Senior Production, in which students working in groups of three or four produce an original 12- to 15-minute documentary. Students also complete an 18-credit minor in order to study a sub-field in depth. Minors include journalism, broadcasting, advertising/public relations and digital media.

All mass communication majors must complete an internship on-site at a professional organization. Students are given wide latitude in choosing an internship that they will enjoy and where they will gain something of value. Students work for a variety of organizations in a variety of fields, including television production, social media, graphic design, event planning, radio, newspaper, sports information, advertising, event planning, marketing, non-profit agencies and more.
