Official final degree verifying transcripts will be required if the degree has not been awarded at the time of application. Photocopies are not accepted.
TOEFL iBT score of 61 or above


In addition to completing the minimum requirements for the College of Graduate Studies and Research, students must also have a GPA of 2.75 or better in overall undergraduate studies, and a 3.0 or higher for the last two years of undergraduate work. Applicants must have at least 30 semester hours in language, literature, communication studies, or related courses, with at least 20 credits in upper division courses. The GRE is not required as part of admission material for this program. Candidates whose native language is not English must have a TOEFL score of 600 or above. Additional materials to include in your application:

Three letters of recommendations from individuals qualified to judge competencies
A statement of personal, educational, and professional goals that addresses applicant interest in both Communication Studies and Composition
A writing sample demonstrating your ability to organize and compose a sound analysis using evidence and external sources (preferably a research or term paper of 5-10 pages)
