In today's global environment, language study and cultural competency are critical for a successful career. At UD, the Department of Languages Literatures and Cultures has worked with the Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science and offers a stimulating interdisciplinary program. The program offers French courses in which a proficiency-oriented communicative approach helps students develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, with an emphasis on sociocultural knowledge that enables students to interact confidently and effectively within the target culture. Your study will prepare you to compete globally and succeed in the world of business where language intercultural skills are an asset.Our program equips students with tools they need to understand the underlying linguistic structures of languages in general and French in particular. Dedicated teachers and helpful advisors are here to assist you with your studies. If you are interested in research, there are many opportunities for undergraduates to conduct with French and Linguistics professors. We offer engaging courses in French and Francophone literatures, cultures, business and cinema, and courses in linguistics, language acquisition and world languages. There are also opportunities to study abroad.
