The first-year application is intended for students who have concluded their secondary education and wish to pursue a bachelor's degree as a full-time university student. Students may apply during or after their final year of secondary education, but may not apply using the first-year application if they have already matriculated to another degree-granting institution. We require the SAT or the ACT for both prospective first year and transfer students. We do not require the ACT writing section or the SAT optional essay. IELTS - 7, TOEFL ibt - 90.

课程简介
The Literature Section's mission is to maintain a level of excellence and innovation consistent with the best universities while remaining responsive to MIT's distinctive intellectual environment. The curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to literary texts as well as theoretical, generic, and thematic subjects that range across geographical and historical boundaries. The program in Literature leading to the Bachelor of Science in Literature is equivalent to the curricula in English (or literary studies) at major liberal arts institutions. The Literature curriculum is notable also for its integration of materials drawn from film and media, popular culture, and minority and ethnic cultures.

如果你自认为是科学天才，那么来到麻省理工，你就会受到打击，因为在这里，你会感到自己知道的知识原来是如此之少。麻省理工的学生在SAT考试的数学平均成绩接近满分麻省理即便是全世界最聪明的学生在这里也会产生畏惧心理。麻省理工在经济学、政治学、管理方面都领先于其他大学。以致于虽然MIT不是常青藤盟校，但也常被人尊称为Ivy Plus！由于对“人类价值和社会目标”的关注，麻省理工非常重视自然科学和工程方面的教学。麻省理工的电子工程和计算机科学专业普遍认为是全美最好的。这两个专业的学生可以选择5年项目，完成后直接拿到硕士学位。为了改变“麻省理工毕业生都在为普林斯顿和哈佛大学的毕业生打工”的看法，MIT还新设立了专门的管理辅助课程。以保证未来的工程师在掌握一流的科学技术的同时，也能对科技的社会环境及市场有深入的了解。麻省理工过去被认为是一所“保守、富裕、白人孩子”的学校，然而现在的麻省理工的情况就不是这样的。其中，非裔占学生总数的6%，拉美裔人占到12%，亚裔占到了26%。97%的学生都是他们的高中班里的前十名。MIT尽力帮助新生在第一个学期里适应学校。大一新生的成绩被评定为P、D、F。其中P代表C-或者更好的成绩，D、F代表没有得到学分。在第二学期的时候，才会用A、B、C取代P。
