Applicants should usually have a minimum overall B+ average (6.0 GPA), or a minimum A- average (7.0 GPA) in the final year of all their undergraduate work. Applicants who have appropriate community-based experience in the field of Holocaust Studies may be considered for admission without meeting the full requirements indicated above.

A short Statement of Intent (1-2 pages stating the research area you wish to focus on)
We require a minimum score of 90 from the internet-based TOEFL (IBT). You must also score at least 20 points each in the listening, speaking, reading and writing sections. We require a minimum score of 575 on the paper-based TOEFL. We require minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the IELTS. No individual component can have a score lower than 6.0. We will only accept results from the Academic IELTS.

The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies endorses the Canadian Association of University Teachers' (CAUT) statement on anti-racism protests: The Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) stands in solidarity with communities around the world protesting racism, injustice, and inequality. While the ongoing demonstrations have been triggered by the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police, the outrage and anger being expressed have their roots in years of pent-up frustration with racism and inequality. CAUT calls on political leaders, organizations, members, and all individuals to take immediate action against endemic racism and inequality. In particular, reforms are needed urgently to policing practices and the criminal justice system in order to end the discrimination and racism against people of colour and Indigenous peoples that has resulted in unwanted violence and lives lost.
