In the increasingly multicultural society of the U.S. in the 21st century, you will find many benefits to completing a major or minor in an interdisciplinary area such as Latino and Caribbean Studies. Disciplines that comprise the field of Latino and/or Caribbean Studies include: anthropology, art history, cinema studies, education, geography, history, literature, media studies, music, philosophy, political science, sociology, and women's and gender studies. You will develop multi- and inter-cultural competence and sensitivity to issues particular to Latino and/or Caribbean experiences. Faculty will work closely with you if you wish to pursue an individual program of study (double majoring is strongly advised), plus regularly scheduled academic and cultural activities supplement and enrich the classroom experience.
