Applicants must have the B.A. in an undergraduate degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution by the projected fall quarter of admission. The graduate admission committee considers the applicant's statement of purpose, personal achievements statement, transcripts, letters of recommendation, GRE scores, and writing sample (plus the TOEFL or IELTS exam scores when applicable for non-English speaking applicants) in making decisions about admissions. Online applications are available September to December 15 for admission in the following year fall term. Final/Official transcripts will be required for all applicants who are admitted and have indicated their intent to enroll at UC Santa Barbara by submitting a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR). UC Santa Barbara reserves the right to require official transcripts at any time during the admissions process, and rescind any offer of admission made if discrepancies between uploaded and official transcript(s) are found. To be considered for admission to UCSB, applicants must have received a bachelor's degree or its equivalent (with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better) from an accredited university prior to the quarter for which admission is sought.
