In addition to meeting the basic requirements for the Master of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences as described in Part Four of the SDSU Graduate Bulletin, the student must complete a graduate program of 30 units, 15 units of which must be in 600- and 700-level courses. All programs must be approved by the MALAS director in consultation with the Graduate Liberal Arts and Sciences Committe. Up to 15 units of coursework can be taken at the 500-level. Official transcripts have been received indicating English as the principal language of instruction. All graduate and post-baccalaureate applicants (regardless of citizenship status) applying to SDSU from an international institution where the medium of instruction was not English must submit one of the following as proof of English proficiency: TOEFL minimum score of 80 iBT, 550 PBT. IELTS overall score of 6.5 or higher.
