A student selecting the Elementary Education Integrated Science Comprehensive Major will earn a Bachelor of Science and be certified to teach children from Kindergarten-Fifth grade. They are also eligible to earn the State of Michigan DI endorsement. This indicates that the student has specialized expertise in Integrated Science and qualifies the student to teach science in grades 6-8.Students will study basic concepts in the sciences that are typically taught in an elementary school: astronomy, biology, chemistry, and earth science. They will also learn to plan and execute child-centered learning experiences for children in grades K-5.
