A focus on how to best support the needs of students whose native language is not English, facilitate professional development and offer resources to teachers, students and families, and differentiate instruction and assessment for English language learners. The College of Education offers several options for graduate certification. The Master of Education program is available for teachers already certified at the baccalaureate level and seeking advanced level certification. A Master of Arts in Teaching program is also available for individuals seeking initial certification. Students may also opt to pursue a graduate certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders. The University of Alabama in Huntsville program also provides a unique experience for general education educators to learn side-by-side with special education educators in a core set of classes before moving to specific concentrations based upon your interest. ESOL and Reading Specialist candidates must complete an internship, which may be done on the job throughout the program of study.
