Become a certified teacher who is skilled and sensitive to the realities of how disabilities intersect with race, gender, socioeconomic status and culture in the classroom. Graduates of this program will be able to understand how learners grow, develop and vary individually across cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional and physical areas. They will learn how to design developmentally appropriate learning experiences, understand diverse cultures and ensure inclusive learning environments, create environments of support and collaborative learning that encourage positive social interactions, and seek appropriate leadership roles.
