For this course, you need an Honours Degree with a 2:2 classification in a Physics related degree with at least half of the content related to Physics and a GCSE grade C/4 or above in both English Language and Mathematics, we also expect you to be confident in technology.
Applicants will be expected to teach Physics across all relevant key stages as well as Biology and Chemistry at KS3 and possibly KS4, so an additional qualification in one or both of these subjects is highly desirable.
After you apply, we'll arrange a selection interview. During the interview process we will assess your subject knowledge and personal qualities, such as communication skills, resilience for teaching, and how easy you'll find it to relate to secondary age students.

Everything we do in our life involves science. It has enabled mankind to achieve more than we ever thought possible, from walking on the moon and conquering disease, to producing fantastic fireworks displays. Through science education, children learn to develop their curiosity through exploration of the world around them.<br><br>Biology helps students understand the bigger picture and connects us to the world in which we live. It develops an understanding of complex forms of humans, animals and plants as well as developing an awareness of the interaction between humanity and the world.<br><br>Chemistry enables us to produce all of the materials we commonly use in everyday life: toothpaste, cosmetics, cleaning products, fertilisers to name but a few. Understanding chemistry is the key to many other aspects of science, such as climate science, geology and forensics.<br><br>Where would we be without an understanding of Physics This aspect of science has saved countless lives through the development of devices such as MRI scanners and laser surgery. Without an understanding of physics, we would not have any of the modern technology on which we depend today.<br><br>We've designed this course to help you understand how to support KS3, KS4, and KS5 Science students. You'll develop the skills you need to make sure young people understand the world in which they live.<br><br>Throughout your training, you'll get hands-on experience on placement and spend time on campus developing your teaching skills across all three science disciplines.<br><br>From getting the most out of your induction, to tips on teaching your first lesson, your personal tutor will be there to support you on every step of your PGCE journey. You will spend time exploring a variety of teaching methods in our laboratories.<br><br>On successful completion of study, we will issue the following award: PGCE Secondary Physics
