Special entry may be considered for students with a Bachelor level degree in another field, or a three-year trained teacher, both supported by extensive professional experience.

Academic admission requirements (Band 8) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline, or
Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience.
IELTS Academic - Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0).
TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition - Minimum score of 84, with no individual score less than 17.
TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) - Minimum score of 573, including Test of Written English of 5.0 or better.

Provides an opportunity for motivated professionals concerned with evidence-based educational practice to undertake advanced coursework that will enable them to perform to a high standard in either a classroom, consulting or literacy leadership role.<br><br>Learning Outcomes<br>Research, analyse, evaluate and communicate the theoretical concepts and methods used for effective learning and teaching for literacy education.<br>Review, analyse and synthesise knowledge of the pedagogical practices for literacy education to create a philosophy that underpins effective teaching and learning.<br>Work collaboratively with colleagues to evaluate and improve teaching approaches as part of ongoing professional development.
