The Master of Arts degree in Education with an Option in Curriculum and Instruction provides educators with the opportunities for the development of skills and knowledge to conduct inquiry, to design curriculum and instructional programs, to implement programs, and to assess the success of those programs in the K-12 school levels. This program requires a minimum of 30 units. This program is designed for teachers and administrators who may choose one of the following areas of emphasis depending upon their background. All students take a core set of classes that will give them a solid background in research, urban leadership and curriculum with 21st century learning outcomes. All students also have a choice of taking a comprehensive examination or conduct research to write a thesis/project in a research area of their choice for their culminating experience
