For all students earning an undergraduate degree at Truman State University, the Master of Arts in Education degree program for Elementary is direct admissions with three gateways. Entering undergraduate students will be guaranteed admission in the MAE Elementary program provided they meet all these gateway requirements:

Academic plan on file in the Education Department.
A or B in ED 393 and ''P'' in ED 394.
2.75 or higher cumulative GPA must be earned prior to taking ED 608G. [Students will enroll in ED 608G (4 credit hours) during the spring of their senior year.]
After earning an undergraduate degree and meeting the gateways listed, the student will become a full-time graduate student in the MAE Elementary program. Applicants must have a 2.75 or higher (3.0 preferred) cumulative GPA, 3 letters of recommendation - one must demonstrate the individual's ability to work effectively with children in a classroom or related setting, a personal statement, and resume. An interview may be required. Submit Official English Proficiency Scores: Truman requires a minimum overall score of:
• 79 for TOEFL (iBT)
• 6.0 for IELTS , TOEFL (550 or above on the paper-based TOEFL) Hold a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution
