The MS-HCI is a unique interdisciplinary program offered collaboratively by four separate College at Georgia Tech: Interactive Computing, Literature, Media and Communication (LMC), Psychology, and Industrial Design. Broadly defined, this study strives to find the perfect relationship between humans and computers. HCI goes beyond computation and screen interface in order to predict new situations that can be facilitated with computers. Students will be interacting with peers and faculty from these four Schools and other specializations with the intent of providing a broad base of knowledge and experience that is essential for moving into the field of HCI practice. The curriculum of the MS-HCI is built around a four-semester, 36 credit-hour course of study. A set of core courses is required of all students, this is supplemented by a specialized core within the Industrial Design program plus a broad range of electives from the four Schools involved in the HCI Program. To add to their classroom/studio experience, students will also complete an internship during the summer after their first year of study and finally complete their degree with a master's project.
