Geology is an interdisciplinary science that integrates a range of fields including geology, physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics with modern technologies in the study of Earth’s processes, environments and history.<br>The Department of Geological Sciences and Engineering has one of the strongest groups of geoscientists in the U.S., many professional labs for students to gain valuable experience, and a close working relationship with the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology and the Nevada Seismological Laboratory. All of these factors make for an exceptional undergraduate education in geology.<br>Learning outcomes<br>Our program gives students the opportunity to explore earth-science research areas such as geodynamics, volcanology, geochemistry and petrology, earth and planetary surface processes, and mineral and energy resources with expert faculty.<br>Graduates of the geology program will graduate with the skills and experience necessary to pursue a wide range of careers.
