课程简介
Geosciences is the study of Earth, including its formation and chemical, physical, and biological aspects. These studies form the basis for improved approaches to issues in natural resources, geohazards, and environmental impacts. Geoscientists also study how the lithosphere interacts with the hydrosphere and atmosphere. Majors study tectonics, geophysics, geochemistry, geochronology and thermodynamics, seismology, paleobiology, economic geology, and Quaternary studies, which examines the more recent history of Earth. Students who pursue the Earth Systems Science Emphasis will learn about geology and earth systems such as oceans and geomorphology, and will gain an understanding of hydrogeology. In addition to this coursework, students will also be required to participate in a geology field camp or research experience. Students who graduate with this degree can continue on to further their education, work for government agencies and research institutes, or consult for industries with geological information.
