课程简介
Art-making in the 21st Century is a multifaceted activity, one that offers the artist a full range of possibilities, in conception, employment of technology and material, and depth of content. While we are all dependent on current and ever-changing technology, and are able to apply these media and their numerous processes to the creation of art, Wood-Metal Design is primarily concerned with the hand built piece that maintains the relationship to materials and techniques that are essential to human expression in this discipline. The Wood-Metal Design curriculum is composed of three classes. All three courses blend aspects of specific, technical skill-sets, and conceptual concerns, as they address historic methods of facture as well as current contemporary ways of making. The Wood-Metal Student will be engaged with/in many time-tested processes, which include: soldering, forming, simple joinery, lamination, mold-making, casting, among others. The wood/metals studio is a fully equipped fine wood and small metals processing facility.
