To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences. A weighted GPA takes into account the extra difficulty of honors, AP or IB classes.
You must submit your final, official high school transcripts to support your application for admission.
SAT/ACT scores: We do not require SAT or ACT scores for admission or scholarship consideration
IELTS (must be academic version) with a score of 6.0 plus
TOEFL score 61 plus

The Bachelor of Science in Materials Science & Engineering is designed to prepare students for a wide range of positions in the modern technological workforce. Materials engineers fill critical jobs in materials research, design, selection, and production. They work in many technology sectors including materials production, advanced manufacturing, sustainable energy, aerospace, electronics, and nearly all fields of technology and manufacturing in between.<br>Students will be able to:<br>identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.<br>apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.<br>communicate effectively with a range of audiences.<br>recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.<br>function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.<br>develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.<br>acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
