The Environmental Studies and Sustainability (ESS) program provides students with the in-depth knowledge, multidisciplinary perspectives, and critical skills needed to address the complex environmental problems of today and of the future. The ESS program explores disruptions to Earth's global life-support systems, threats to biotic and human communities, the challenge of environmental justice, and both the obstacles to and the promise of environmental sustainability. The Program offers two majors: Environmental Studies and Sustainability Major (BA) and Environmental Science Major (BS) Environmental Science.<br><br>BS in Environmental Science and a BA in Environmental Studies and Sustainability, which are unique in their emphasis on our local ecology, cultures, and collaborative practices. The BS in Environmental Science provides students a solid grounding in environmental science, as students take courses across science disciplines with a focus on environmental problems. The BA in Environmental Studies and Sustainability provides students with an understanding of environmental issues from a range of perspectives across disciplines.
