Applicants must possess preparation equivalent to the baccalaureate degree. Adequate academic preparation can best be demonstrated by a baccalaureate degree in the chosen option or in a closely related field. Applicants who lack adequate preparation may be required to make up academic deficiencies through additional coursework. Such coursework may not be used toward the graduate degree. GRE scores are not required to apply. Including them is optional.
Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the last sixty undergraduate units. Applicants who do not meet this criteria may file an appeal. To appeal, the applicant should ask the faculty that they are applying to work with to submit a one-paragraph written justification to the Graduate Advisory Council through the Graduate Coordinator. For example, the justification could point to extensive relevant work experience, strong letters of recommendation, and/or high GRE scores.
GPA of at least 2.5 in an acceptable earned bachelor's degree,
GPA of at least 2.75 in the last 60 semester units (90 quarter units) attempted,
IELTS - 6.5. TOEFL - 80 IBT, 550 PBT, 213 CBT

You want to make a difference in the world A master's degree in Environmental Systems opens the door to making an impact on the world and its resources. The graduate program in Environmental Systems at Cal Poly Humboldt offers three options in Environmental Resources Engineering, Geology, and Energy Technology & Policy within a single graduate program.<br>The graduate program in Environmental Systems at Cal Poly Humboldt is unique in combining studies in Environmental Resources Engineering, Geology, and Energy Technology and Policy within a single graduate program. Graduate studies in environmental systems are devoted to providing a strong scientific foundation for the study of environmental resource systems, management of the environment, or geologic processes. While the options are designed to provide an in-depth understanding in each particular area of emphasis, the program as a whole is also intended to develop in students an appreciation for the interdisciplinary character of environmental systems.<br><br>Each candidate for the Environmental Systems degree will choose one of the three options listed below. The student will then consult with an appropriate faculty advisor and prepare an individual program of study that must be approved by a faculty graduate committee. The curriculum typically requires two years for completion and includes a thesis or project, depending on the option, as part of the student's program of study.<br>The Energy Technology and Policy (ETaP) option is an interdisciplinary program for students interested in technology and policy issues related to energy, the environment, and society. Students in the program have worked on topics ranging from renewable energy engineering to climate change mitigation and from international development to domestic energy policy. The program offers a rigorous curriculum for students who are interested to make a difference in these important areas of work.
