The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Physics is a one-year, full-time program undertaken following the completion of the pass degree. The main component of the course is a research project conducted within one of the UTS research groups, or jointly with an external organisation. The course prepares students in aspects of planning and executing a research program to address a specific scientific or technological problem. In addition, two coursework subjects provide detailed knowledge in several areas of contemporary significance in physics and nanotechnology. Graduates work within research roles spread across many different industries including education, automotive, aerospace, defence, public sector, healthcare, energy, materials, technology, computing and IT. An honours degree is the first step towards a career in research and academia.
