This foundation year builds on your mathematical skills, preparing you for entry onto the BSc (Hons) Mathematics degree. A Foundation Entry course is ideal if you’ve got the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to directly join an honours programme. It’s a great stepping stone to a full degree. Early on in the course you’ll attend a residential team building activity, so you’ll get to know staff and students, and develop friendships that’ll last throughout your studies. The syllabus covers a range of mathematical topics, including the applications of mathematics in physics and engineering. At the end of your foundation year, and with good grades, you can progress onto the mathematics degree, or onto a degree in physics, astrophysics, or engineering. Your Foundation Entry Mathematics degree is a stepping stone to a career in a many sectors, including finance, banking and insurance, business consultancy and operational research.<br>Our sandwich degrees offer the perfect blend of academic study and practical work experience, allowing you to build confidence in the workplace and graduate work-ready from your degree programme.<br><br>Our previous graduates have found their sandwich year particularly beneficial as it has allowed them to gain practical, hands-on experience within their chosen career and the opportunity to learn directly from professionals based out in industry. It is not uncommon for sandwich year programmes to also open up future work opportunities in similar fields or professions for our graduates.
