The College offers small class sizes and high standards of academic achievement that are moderated by University staff. You will gain a solid grounding in a range of science subjects including geography and mathematics and will have a choice of chemistry, physics, information technology or biology modules. On completing the Foundation Year, you will then choose modules from the Geography BSc (Hons) programme and be based at the main University campus with the option to transfer onto the following programmes: Geology and Physical Geography BSc (Hons) (F6F8), Geography BA (Hons) (L700), Environmental Science BSc (Hons) (F750), Geography BSc (Hons) (F800), Geography and Oceanography BSc (Hons) (FF78), Urban Planning BA (Hons) (K430), Environment and Planning BA (Hons) (K4L7) and Geography and Planning BA (Hons) (L7K4).

Geography is a subject that bridges the social and physical sciences. Those studying geography develop transferable knowledge and skills which open up a wide range of career opportunities. As a result, geography students have one of the highest rates of graduate employment. Our Geography degrees are constantly reviewed, in consultation with employers, to ensure that graduates leave with the key skills required to compete in the global workplace. This includes setting you non-traditional assignments, such as writing policy briefs and bringing employers and graduates into the university to meet and advise you. The tutorial system operating in all three years is specifically designed to provide support in the development of key transferable skills and important elements of career planning (including CV and interview skills, internship applications and skills audits, among others). Recent graduates have embarked on rewarding careers with a broad range of public and private sector organisations. Some are putting their geographical knowledge to direct use working in jobs such as environment assistant for the Environment Agency, ranger, government researcher, resource planner and in business development. Other graduates are putting the transferable skills they have gained into practice in careers such as accountancy, teaching and management, and a significant number join graduate training programmes in major organisations.

Offers study abroad opportunities and Offers a Year in China
