- Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4 point scale
- Successful completion of the following undergraduate courses: General genetics (upper level course); Biochemistry (upper level course, requiring one semester of organic chemistry as a prerequisite); Statistics.
English Language Proficiency: TOEFL: internet based - 79, or paper based - 550. A score of at least 6.5 is required on the IELTS.

The UNC Greensboro Master of Science in Genetic Counseling Program is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and proficiency to practice as genetic counselors in a variety of settings, including non-clinical and clinical prenatal, pediatric, adult, and cancer genetics. Our mission is to provide an exemplary learning environment for you to obtain the knowledge, skills, and competencies to provide culturally sensitive, ethical genetic counseling services in a variety of clinical settings.<br><br>UNCG is the home of the 1st M.S. in Genetic Counseling program in the state and one of 54 genetic counseling programs in North America.<br>Graduates are eligible to apply to the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) for Active Candidate Status and to sit for the ABGC Certification Examination.<br>The program has 18 available standard rotation placements across nine institutions, with additional opportunities out-of-state and abroad.<br>The program has 158 UNCG Genetic Counseling graduates to date and counting.
