Conduct research alongside renowned faculty and motivated classmates in Case Western Reserve University’s Genetics and Genome Sciences PhD program. Over the course of six years or fewer, you’ll work in a collaborative environment, studying topics such as animal models of human disease, epigenetics and the regulation of gene expression, and therapeutic targets of human genetic disease—all in small cohorts to maximize individual attention. Here, you’ll gain the skills and training needed to become a scientist, clinical genetics director, professor and more. Our research-focused program will allow you to partner not only with your peers, but also with internationally recognized faculty who are committed to your success. You’ll be studying at one of the top research universities in the U.S., and you’ll have opportunities for pre-doctoral fellowships plus access to 34 core facilities through our School of Medicine.<br><br>The Department of Genetics Genome Sciences embraces a unified program devoted to outstanding research and teaching in all areas of genetics, with particular emphases on genetics and genomics, human and model system genetics, animal models of human disease, stem cell models of human disease, epigenetics and the regulation of gene expression, therapeutic targets of human genetic disease, as well as developmental genetics. Faculty conduct internationally recognized research programs in each of these areas. They also are committed to training the next generation of leading genetics researchers. The Department has several affiliated programs that provide additional research and training opportunities, including the Center for Human Genetics at University Hospitals and the Genomics Medicine Institute at the Cleveland Clinic.
