Prospective international students must have the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an approved institution. Usually this is a minimum of four years of study beyond grade 12. A grade point average equivalent to a U.S. grade of “B†or better is required. The WSU Graduate School uses a 4-point scale format which indicates a 3.00 = B. The minimum acceptable IELTS score is 7. TOEFL pbt: 560, TOEFL ibt: 80.
Three letters of recommendation which will be submitted online
GRE scores: Required for international and domestic applicants. We require the GRE general test and recommend the Biology Subject Test. Have ETS send scores directly to the Graduate School.

Our biology students generally focus on research in the broad areas of ecology, evolution, systematics, molecular biology, and animal and plant physiology. The School of Biological Sciences graduate program offers outstanding training opportunities for students seeking M.S. or Ph.D. degrees in biology or plant biology. We also offer a non-thesis M.S. degree in biology. We currently have approximately 75 graduate students advised by faculty in the School. The training of graduate students is a major emphasis of faculty in the School of Biological Sciences. We welcome you to contact directly individual faculty members or direct your questions to the graduate coordinator within the School of Biological Sciences.
