The combined accelerated program B.S.M.S. in Biology allows students to earn both degrees for a total of 141 credits, instead of 160. Students are required to take 21 graduate credits and 120 undergraduate credits. Students must decide to be in this program by the end of their sophomore year and arrange their program for their junior and senior years in close consultation with their academic advisers. The Department of Biological Sciences is an integral part of the liberal arts tradition for well over two-thousand years. Our mission is to provide the science component of the liberal arts education for all students as well as the professional training for its majors. We are committed to providing students with a solid foundation in both the theoretical concepts and practical applications of science. The graduates will be well prepared to further their education in graduate or professional schools or to pursue a variety of careers in biological, chemical, pharmaceutical, or marine sciences.
