Members of the MGB Faculty are united by a common interest in understanding the molecular underpinnings of a given system. Their research is firmly grounded in molecular and genetic aspects of microbial physiology, development and behavior in lower eukaryotes, programmed cell death, immunology, positive strand RNA viral replication and host genes controlling susceptibility to viral induced disease. In addition to basic research on these topics, faculty members are also engaged in collaborative translational efforts involving protein structure-guided design of anti-viral and anti-microbial drugs. MGB Faculty members are also engaged in science education and community outreach.
