The B.S. degree program is the recommended program for students who plan a graduate program in biological sciences. It is also the suggested course of study for those planning careers in the biological sciences, premedical and pre-professional training, and secondary education. Students interested in secondary education should refer to the certification requirements in the teacher education program. The department currently offers two undergraduate degrees: a B.S. in Biology, and a B.A. in Biology. It combines strong research orientation in the basic sciences with a concern for community health and environmental problems. It offers excellent preparation for professional and research careers as well as training for community health workers concerned with the educational needs of the global community.
